FUT (follicular unit transplant) also referred to as FUSS (follicular unit single strip) involves removing a superficial strip of hair-bearing tissue from the donor area, located around the side and back of the head. The donor strip is microscopically prepared into follicular unit skin grafts which are then transplanted into the area (s) on the head needing restoration.
Although, the FUE method has become increasingly popular in recent years as the method of choice for hair transplantation, not all patients are candidates for this procedure and in some cases the FUT method must be used to provide the best possible results. This will be determined during your initial consultation with the doctor.
